These are a few of my favourite things: the coffee edition

People will often ask me where I get my supplements, food, workout gear etc from. I have a few discount codes for some of my favourite companies, and am generously supported in one way or another by some others. Then there are the companies, brands and products which I just straight-up love, without discount codes or freebies! I thought I’d start a blog series telling you about these “favourite things” – and extending the discount code to you where one exists. All these “favourite things” posts are on one page.

A few of my favourite things: the coffee edition

Oh, I love coffee. Espresso, long black, with a bit of cream. Whatever, I don’t mind, as long as there more coffee than anything else in the cup. And the coffee has to be good.

So all hail Coffee Cavern‘s coffee tasting club, a mail order coffee club.

I’m sure many of you are down with the idea of wine clubs. They send you wine, you drink it, sometimes there’s a little tasting notes thingy on which you’re meant to scribble notes (“lingering aroma of sugarsnap peas on a June evening”) but, let’s face it, you’re too squiffy by then and anyway you just want to drink your wine.

Well this is a bit like that. Only for coffee. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind wine but honestly I’d much sooner have a great cup of coffee.

I love everything about coffee. The smell of the grounds, the gorgeous shades of brown, the comforting routine of making an espresso, the thrill of making a cafetiere (will this be the time is splashes up and burns my wrist… ? No! I live to see another day!)

I love coffee so much that I’d rather not make anyone an instant coffee, even if that’s what they ask for. With the exception of my friend Craig whose love for Gold Blend is legendary (somehow, we are still friends… )

Anyway, so onto the Coffee Cavern coffee tasting club. What happens is this:

You go here and sign up. You can choose how you want your beans/grounds (depending on how you make your coffee).

Then you wait. And before long the doorbell goes and there's a postman there sniffing your mail and saying "hello love, I dunno what this one is but it smells lovely!" (<;;— true story).

Then you open your (completely-recyclable) packet to reveal your four coffees (4x60g or 4x125g) for the month.

Eric and Nickie at the Coffee Cavern send out a newsletter with your coffees, explaining where the coffees are sourced from, why they've been chosen, and lovely stories about the farmers, plantations and families behind the beans. They work hard to choose the best coffees from around the world, mostly from single estates coffees and always from well-run farms which have not only the environment but the well-being of their workers at heart. Last year they sent out coffee from 23 different countries.

In short I can't recommend Coffee Cavern highly enough. If you love coffee, or if you know someone who does, consider signing up. It would make a fantastic present!
